Kimmel Orchard Holding Annual Cherry Festival on June 28

Nebraska City, Neb. (June 12, 2008) – Kimmel Orchard will hold its annual Cherry Festival on Saturday, June 28, to celebrate the harvest of the Montmorency pie cherries. The festival will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., at the Kimmel Orchard Visitor Center.

Cherry Festival activities include the Village Pie Maker’s cherry pie eating contest, hay rack rides, a cherry pitter demonstration, wine tastings featuring cherry wines from Kimmel Orchard and Arbor Day Farm, live music, a pit spitting contest, and pick-your-own cherries while supplies last. The pie eating contest, sponsored by Village Pie Maker of Eustis, begins at 2 p.m.

Cherry pie, cherry ice cream, cherry butter, cherry jelly, cherry salsa and barbeque smoked with cherry wood from Kimmel Orchard will also be featured.
