Nebraska City, Neb., April 12, 1999--Health Communications, Inc., Deerfield Beach, Florida, will receive a 1999 Promise to the Earth Award from The National Arbor Day Foundation. Health Communications, Inc., publishers of the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series, is being recognized for helping the Arbor Day Foundation replant Florida forests destroyed by fires in the summer of 1998.
The award will be presented at the Arbor Day Foundation's 27th annual Arbor Day Awards, to be held in Nebraska City, Neb., on Saturday, May 1. The Promise to the Earth Award recognizes sustained corporate commitment and national leadership by those who join with The National Arbor Day Foundation on special projects in education and in the planting of trees.
Health Communications, Inc. has made a contribution to help the Foundation plant 200,000 seedling trees in state forests in northern Florida. The trees will restore important habitat for such wildlife as black bear, eagles, wood storks, and many migratory bird species.
Also winning 1999 Promise to the Earth Awards are the Triangle Pacific Flooring Group, Addison, Texas, recognized for helping plant hardwood trees in our nation's forests; and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, Beverly Hills, California, makers and distributors of the popular animated film FernGully 2, for their commitment to preserving rain forest land through the Foundation's Rain Forest Rescue Program.
