Nebraska City, Neb. (March 8, 2011) – Tree planters in California now have a new source for affordable trees in the Arbor Day Foundation's online tree nursery.
The Arbor Day Foundation recently met all the requirements from the California Department of Food and Agriculture to ship trees from its online tree nursery to residents of the state. Now, Californians have the option to purchase 113 different tree species from the Foundation's website, www.arborday.org/treesCA. Available trees include red maples, baldcypress, pink dogwoods, tuliptrees (yellow poplar) and Leyland cypress.
"Planting trees is an ideal way to celebrate Arbor Week in California, and the Arbor Day Foundation is happy to give Californians another option to get their trees," said John Rosenow, chief executive and founder of the Arbor Day Foundation. "By planting trees, people can positively impact their world because of the health and economic benefits trees provide."
Trees purchased from the Arbor Day Foundation typically are about 1- to 3-feet tall and are shipped at the proper time to plant based on the tree planter's hardiness zone. Trees from the Arbor Day Foundation are guaranteed to arrive in good condition or they will be replaced at no charge. Each tree is guaranteed to grow, or the Foundation will replace it for half the original price.
The Arbor Day Foundation is the nation's largest nonprofit organization dedicated to planting trees, with more than 1 million members and supporters. The Foundation planted and distributed 14 million trees last year alone.
