NATIONAL ARBOR DAY FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES ANNUAL AWARDS
Nebraska City, Neb., April 30, 1998--Bruce Hardwood Floors is helping The National Arbor Day Foundation plant 100,000 oak seedlings in Arkansas' Ozark-St. Francis National Forest. Bruce, a division of Triangle Pacific Corp., has announced that it is giving $100,000 to the Arbor Day Foundation to make the tree planting possible.
Last year, Bruce Hardwood Floors gave the Foundation $50,000 to plant 50,000 trees in Missouri's Mark Twain National Forest.
Representatives of Bruce Hardwood Floors said they were pleased to make gifts that have such an impact both on the forests themselves and on the wildlife that live there. The leading hardwood floor manufacturer said that they also enjoy giving something back to the environment that has provided them such abundant, high quality hardwood lumber.
"We're delighted with these gifts from Bruce Hardwood Floors, and we know what a wonderful difference this makes to these forests," said John Rosenow, president of The National Arbor Day Foundation. "Trees are an important renewable resource, and the generosity and vision of Bruce Hardwood Floors helps our forests stay strong and vital."
The Ozark-St. Francis National Forest covers 1.1 million acres. Nearly two-thirds of the forest is oak-hickory and one-third is shortleaf pine timber types. The Ozark National Forest is located in the Ozark and Boston Mountains of northwest Arkansas, while the St. Francis National Forest is in the Mississippi delta in eastern Arkansas. Both forests are administered by the Forest Supervisor's Office in Russelville, Ark.
Bruce, the largest hardwood flooring manufacturer in the world, has been making hardwood flooring since 1884. The National Arbor Day Foundation, a nonprofit education organization that helps people plant and care for trees, was founded in 1972 and today includes a million members across the country.
