Arbor Day Foundation Announces Partnership with Ayumma to Plant Trees in America's Forests
Arbor Day Foundation to Plant Trees in Our Nation's Forests Donated Through Hayneedle.com's Holiday Campaign
Nebraska City, Neb. (Nov. 5, 2010) – The Arbor Day Foundation announced today a partnership with Hayneedle.com for the online retailer's holiday campaign that will plant trees in our nation's forests. Hayneedle.com, an Omaha-based, online retailer of home furnishings and lifestyle products, is launching, Buy a Tree Today & We'll Plant One for Tomorrow, in which the company will plant a tree in a forest for every Christmas tree purchased at Hayneedle.com between now and December 25.
For every customer that chooses to celebrate the holidays with a tree from Hayneedle.com, the company will make a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation to plant trees in our nation's forests that are in desperate need of reforestation because of wildfires and disease.
Hayneedle.com's goal is to plant 15,000 live trees this season. The Arbor Day Foundation will work with the U.S. Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters to plant trees donated by Hayneedle.com in forests that have been damaged by wildfires, insects and disease. In national forests alone, the U.S. Forest Service has a backlog of 1 million acres that need to be replanted.
"Hayneedle.com is demonstrating how companies can make a positive impact on our world by planting trees," said Tiffany Thompson, corporate partnership manager at the Arbor Day Foundation. "The trees planted by Hayneedle.com will help clean the air we breathe, clean drinking water for millions of Americans and will provide habitat for countless species of wildlife."
"Nothing puts you in the holiday spirit more than giving, so we are thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to give to our nation's forests," said Jason Goldberger, chief merchandising officer at Hayneedle. "It's wonderful to know that by decorating with a reusable, artificial Christmas tree in our homes each holiday, we can celebrate nature by planting and nurturing live trees for all to enjoy for many years to come."
