LINCOLN, Nebraska (July 6, 2020) – The Arbor Day Foundation today announced three new members appointed to its Board of Trustees, including: Ernesto Herrera Guerra, Managing Director for Reforestamos México and President of the Mesoamerican Committee; Mark Johnson, CEO, Concord Servicing; and Denise Naguib, Vice President, Sustainability & Supplier Diversity for Marriott International.
“We look forward to partnering with our new Board members as we further the Arbor Day Foundation’s mission of inspiring people to plant, nurture, and celebrate trees,” said Pat Covey, Board Chair. “These esteemed leaders will provide invaluable insight as the Foundation continues to nurture the growing chorus of tree planters around the world.”
Ernesto Herrera-Guerra is the Managing Director for Reforestamos México and is currently Chair of the Mesoamerican Committee of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). His work with Reforestamos spans over 18 years. Reforestamos is a not-for-profit organization that works with all sectors of society to stop deforestation, increase sustainable forest management, promote landscape restoration and increase urban tree canopy. Reforestamos also generates information to improve public and private decision-making, strengthens the management of territorial governance platforms, and promotes entrepreneurship and responsible investment around trees and forests. Ernesto has a background as an industrial engineer with a master’s degree in environmental management.
Mark Johnson is the CEO of Concord Servicing and is responsible for day to day leadership operations. Before joining Concord, Mark held senior leadership roles at Wyndham Vacation Ownership, Inc. (now Wyndham Destinations), including EVP & Chief Hospitality Officer and as President of Wyndham Consumer Finance, Inc. Mark was instrumental in bringing recognition to Wyndham as the benchmark for timeshare securitizations. Mark’s background includes responsibility for receivable servicing and related client interface at GE Commercial Finance, and responsibility for the Specialty Finance Group’s servicing of a $5 Billion commercial loan portfolio at FINOVA Capital Corporation. He was also a Senior Associate at an Arizona law firm, responsible for providing legal services to banking clientele. Mark has both a B.S. Degree and a Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Nebraska.
Denise Naguib is the Vice President, Sustainability & Supplier Diversity for Marriott International. She leads the sustainability strategy for global operations and drives sustainability through the design and development processes. She is also the primary communicator to customers of Marriott’s sustainability efforts. Denise grew up in Egypt before moving to Oregon at age nine and has been passionate about environmental efforts from an early age. Denise has driven Marriott to become a more sustainable and environmentally responsible business through her innovation and continues to strive to support diverse suppliers and collaborators.
