Tree planting efforts in this area of Oregon will reestablish riparian forests to ensure clean drinking water, improve water quality and habitat for threatened Chinook salmon, and provide critical habitat for a vast array of birds and other wildlife.
Through this Virginia-based project, trees are being planted to prevent erosion, sequester carbon, provide wildlife habitat, give the watershed much-needed riparian buffers, and reduce pollution levels in waterways.
After facing several major wildfires, this National Forest is in need of restoration. Efforts in high-intensity burn areas are focused on restoring the landscape, reestablishing habitat connectivity for area wildlife, and protecting area waterways.
