09/12/12
Nebraska City, Neb. (September 12, 2012) – Nebraska City's Applejack Festival will be held this upcoming weekend, September 15 and 16, and the Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure offers plenty of apples for those looking for a traditional orchard experience.

This weekend's festival marks the 44th annual celebration of the apple harvest, commemorated throughout the Nebraska City community.

Visitors may pick several classic varieties of apples fresh from the orchard, including braeburn, jonathan, granny smith and others. Pre-picked apples are available for purchase in the Apple House Market in quantities ranging from five-pound bags to bushel boxes. Visitors can watch the cider press in operation from 9am to 2pm on Saturday. Apple cider, pies, caramel apples, and Arbor Day Farm wine tastings are also available in the Apple House Market.

Additional activities at the Tree Adventure include tree climbing, cross-cut sawing competitions, live folk music, face painting and Discovery Rides into the orchard. The Historic Barns will host a 46-vendor craft show, one of the largest in the area.

Anticipating a large crowd, all Arbor Day Farm venues are open extended hours on Applejack Weekend, 10am to 7pm. Admission to the Tree Adventure is $6.50 for adults, $4.50 for age 3-12 and free for age two and younger.

In downtown Nebraska City, activities include a community parade, street dance, several craft shows, carnival rides and festival food.
