Pick Your Own Pumpkins During the Autumn Festival at Arbor Day Farm

09/24/08
Nebraska City, Neb. (Sept. 24, 2008) – Autumn Festival swings into high gear at Arbor Day Farm with the opening of the pick-your-own pumpkin patch on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Tree Adventure attraction.

Families and people of all ages can select fresh, homegrown pumpkins right off the vine. The pumpkin patch will be open through the end of October.

“Selecting the perfect pumpkin is a fall tradition to be enjoyed by everyone,” said Beverly Todd Nolte, director of Arbor Day Farm Tree Adventure. “This is a perfect way for families to spend time together and have fun as they take pleasure in the fall weather.”

There will be plenty of activities, adventure and apples all fall during the Autumn Festival at Arbor Day Farm. In addition to selecting the perfect pumpkin at the Tree Adventure attraction, families can climb a tree house 50 feet high, take a trip through nature on the Discovery Ride, sample Arbor Day Farm’s heirloom apples, and take home a free seedling with each paid admission.

Visitors can also pick apples at Tree Adventure attraction through October. Turley and Granny Smith varieties will be available for picking right off the tree next month, said Erik Olson, orchards manager at Arbor Day Farm.

Activities in the Apple House will include wine tasting of Arbor Day Farm vintage wines, fresh baked apple pies from the Lied Lodge kitchen, and plenty of just-picked apples from the orchard.

Arbor Day Farm is located at 2611 Arbor Ave., in Nebraska City.

Visitors to Kimmel Orchard & Vineyard can enjoy a hayrack ride to a pick-your-own pumpkin patch, fresh pressed apple cider, homemade apple pie, homegrown produce and scenic trails. The orchard is located at 5995 G Road, in Nebraska City.
