Wild Birds Unlimited

Tree Ordering & Planting Hub

Inspire your customers and community to support song bird habitats — one tree at a time.

Wild Birds Unlimited (WBU) has a long history of supporting ecosystems for birds of all kinds to thrive. Now, they’re inviting their own community to help grow them.

For the past 4 years, WBU and the Arbor Day Foundation have partnered to restore degraded forests across the U.S. and Canada. From the American Southeast to the Pacific Northwest, these efforts have helped to benefit nesting, breeding, and hunting habitats for a variety threatened and vulnerable bird populations.

With over 350 locations providing expert guidance and equipment for maintaining avian ecosystems, storeowners can now offer bird enthusiasts a simple way to grow these habitats: plant trees, in forests or their own backyard.

Florida

In Florida, large-scale longleaf pine planting projects have helped support nesting grounds for the recently-downlisted red-cockaded woodpecker.

Up north, native stands of Jack and red pines have been replanted in Michigan to support breeding habitat for the Kirtland’s warbler — an endemic song bird that was also recently taken off the endangered species list thanks to strategic reforestation efforts like this.

Oregon

Planting efforts in the Pacific Northwest have utilized a diverse blend of cedar and Douglas-fir trees to support nesting conditions for the threatened northern spotted owl, as well as to improve aquatic wildlife habitats that support other regional raptors’ food supply.

Canada

Disaster recovery efforts have helped continue the replanting of Douglas-fir and aspen trees in the Cariboo Chilcotin region of British Columbia following the 2017 Hanceville Fire—restoring habitat for a variety of raptors and song birds.
