St. Hugh Arbor Day Celebration

The goal of the St. Hugh Arbor Day celebration is to bring people together in the beautiful forest town of Idyllwild, and to encourage them to plant, nurture and celebrate trees wherever they may live. More than just our timeless silent neighbors, trees provide many benefits - they enhance the beauty of our landscapes, provide shade, improve air quality, provide soil reinforcement and house many of our beloved forest wildlife. Our free Arbor Day Celebration will highlight all of these benefits and more, educating our community while also providing live music, nature-themed education and arts activities for children, local artist and food vendor booths, and raffle and auction items to take home. This annual event is held the last Saturday of April, with the 2025 Celebration scheduled for April 26. Join us!

The Economic Impact of Tennessee's Trees

Tullahoma will recognize the contribution of trees to Tennessee's economy by planting one each of a tulip poplar (state tree and furniture making), a white oak (for making whiskey barrels), and a sugar maple (for charcoal mellowing whiskey and making syrup), all products of Tennessee. In addition, each of the trees is a memorial tree dedicated in honor of others. We will also have representatives from the Tennessee Urban Forestry Council, the Tennessee Division of Forestry, and guest speakers from George Dickel Distillery, the TN Division of Forestry, and the Tennessee Valley Woodworker's Association among others. We will also recognize the City of Tullahoma for earning Tree City USA for the 28th year and our local utility company, TUA, for earning Tree Line USA for the 14th year. The event is free to attend and open to everyone.
