Tree Distribution

Arbor Day Tree Giveaway

Each year, the Town provides tree vouchers to residents who can pick up a tree from the Town on a designated pick-up day (April 25th, 2025). Vouchers are provided to Town residents (April 5th, 2025) and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Celebrate Germantown’s Tree City USA status by planting a tree. Dogwoods and native tree seedlings will be available. All seedlings are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis and available free to residents who show proof of residency with a utility bill or valid driver's license. Information about the varieties of trees will be made available on the Parks and Recreation Facebook page. The event is sponsored by the Germantown Beautification Commission and Tree Board.

We will plant a 20 ft tall tree with community members and allow members to backfill as a part of the ceremony.

Arbor Day Tree Dedication & Sapling Giveaway
Saturday, April 26, 2025
Each year the Village dedicates a new tree species in honor of arbor day, at Arboretum Garden, located across the street from the Police Department near the silo along Rt. 30. Attendees will participate in the planting of two Pawpaw trees. To celebrate Arbor Day, those attending will receive a chance to win 1 0f 50, 18" tree saplings. The committee will give away the saplings at approximately 10:45Am. The 2025 tree of the year is the Pawpaw tree.

Municipal arborist Ed Pfaff will also be available to answer any tree or native plant questions that residents may have about preparing their yards for the spring and summer seasons.

There will be tree planted, an educational guided tree walk, a proclamation reading by the mayor, an art installation and a Bioblitz demonstration in coordination with the City Nature Challenge.

The City of Cedar Falls Parks staff will be planting 5 oak trees in Island Park in an area where there was several ash trees that were removed due to emerald ash borer. We will also be planting several other trees in this park in the fall of 2025.

Join us as we plant a redbud tree on the side of the water trough in Bailey Park to compliment the one that was planted on the other side on Arbor Day 2024.
