Are the leaves OPPOSITE in groups of 2–3, ENTIRE heart-shaped or with very narrow BLADES 5–15" long?
CLUE: The fruit is a 7–12" long slender CAPSULE.

Are the leaves ENTIRE, BLADES less than 6" long, with veins that curve to follow the leaf edge?
CLUE: The fruit is a berry-like DRUPE. These are dogwood trees.

CLUE: the fruit is a SAMARA in pairs.
