Bulletin #42: Working with Children

There is considerable information available beyond that which can be fit into the 8-page bulletin. For example, search online for “children’s outdoor activities” for hundreds of ideas. Here are a few sources offered by the Arbor Day Foundation that should be helpful:

What Tree is That?

To help with tree identification, two easy-to-use guides (eastern and western editions) are available from the Arbor Day Foundation. These are excellent for use with groups or in a classroom. A free, online version and iPhone app is also available.

Tree Adventure

A wide variety of hands-on activities are available for families at Arbor Day Farm’s Tree Adventure. Overnight accommodations are available onsite at the Lied Lodge and Conference Center in Nebraska City, Nebraska, and Tree Adventure provides an unforgettable experience that is both fun and educational for all ages.
