Forest OverviewLocated in the north-central region of the Sierra Nevada Range in northeastern California, Tahoe National Forest’s rivers, peaks, and dense forest make it one of the most popular recreation sites in the United States. No matter the season, Tahoe promises plenty of outdoor fun. In the winter, visitors can downhill ski on the forest’s slopes or venture down the numerous snowmobile and cross-country skiing trails. In the summer, hiking, biking, and equestrian trails lead to the forest’s many rivers and lakes and stunning mountaintop views.
