Superior National Forest
Forest OverviewKnown for its diverse forest ecosystem, Superior National Forest is abundant in recreational opportunities, clean lakes and streams, and bountiful wildlife. Superior is one of the top ten most visited National Forests because of the limitless outdoor activities and beautiful scenic landscapes which blanket a heavily forested area of northeastern Minnesota.
Superior National Forest Needs Our HelpThere are several projects that need your help to take place on Superior National Forest in 2011: Restoration of areas lost to the Ham Lake Fire of 2007, the Caribou stewardship planting, and the Inga restoration project. All projects have important objectives this spring; to plant fire-adapted species which will decrease future fire intensities and facilitate more effective fire suppression.
The Forest Service is taking an all-lands approach with these projects, involving state and local agencies, along with private landowners that have played a key role in volunteering and helping with forest health and tree planting. They are also relying on the Foundation and its members and partners to push this project to completion. We need your help.
