Posthumous Grant Perpetuates Past Member's Love of Trees

For over 20 years, James A. Buddy Davidson of Midland, Texas, took pride in his membership in the Arbor Day Foundation and the trees he and his wife, Sandra, planted on theirproperty.

When Buddy passed away in 2004, a charitable foundation was started in his name with the mission of continuing his work of supporting worthwhile causes focused on education, the environment, wildlife, and other initiatives for a greater good. We planted a lot of trees over the years, and they're still out there growing taller every year. He loved those trees and they're like a living tribute to him. I feel good about his life and our time together every time I look at them, says Sandra, now the head of the James A. Buddy Davidson Charitable Foundation.

Recently, Sandra and her foundation board provided a $10,000 grant to the Arbor Day Foundation. She said, I know Buddy would be pleased that we're supporting the Arbor Day Foundation's mission of planting trees and environmental education. Their efforts across the country and around the world, as well as their impressive work here in the state of Texas, made it a great match for what we want to accomplish.

The Arbor Day Foundation is especially grateful to the James A. Buddy Davidson Charitable Foundation and the many other family foundations that provide thoughtful support to our mission.
