Support the Foundation During Your Lifetime

If you’d like to make an impact on the environment now, the Arbor Day Foundation can help you arrange one or a combination of planned giving strategies that allow you to contribute to tree planting efforts today and into the future.

 Tax-Free IRA Distributions

If you are 70½ or older, you can make tax-free contributions — up to $100,000 per year — through your traditional or Roth IRA. The process is simple. You can direct a distribution in the amount of your choosing to from your IRA to the Arbor Day Foundation, which will not be subject to income tax. And the distribution can be set as either a one-time or recurring gift. This is a great solution if you do not need the additional income from your required minimum distributions, you want to give more than the 50% income deduction limit, or you live in a state with no charitable income tax deduction.

 Charitable Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity allows you to make a donation to the Arbor Day Foundation while receiving an annual payment for the rest of your life. The benefits of the trees you help to plant will then extend beyond your lifetime, cleaning water and air, bringing life to our nation’s forests, making communities greener and helping to inspire a future generation of tree planters. To receive a proposal and to find out what a charitable gift annuity would look like for you, please contact Chloé.

 Gift of Stock

One additional way to support our environmental efforts is a gift of stock. By transferring appreciated stock as a donation, you can provide generous support to the Foundation's mission and create a lasting legacy. You may also receive significant personal tax savings with a charitable deduction for the contribution without capital-gain tax. Contact Chloé for more information about this option.

 Cash Gift

You can make a monetary gift today to fund tree planting and conservation programs that will make a positive impact on the earth for generations to come. Unrestricted gifts are used to support tree planting efforts across the country and around the world. If you would like your funds put to use in a specific way, please contact us so we can ensure that your wishes are met.

 Gift of Land

You can also gift land to the Arbor Day Foundation as a way to preserve your heritage, ensure best conservation practices, and allow for a source of income. By retaining a “lifetime estate,” you can continue to receive annual rental income. You may receive significant tax benefits when you make such a gift.
