The Montevallo Arbor and Beautification Board will hold its Arbor Day Celebration 2023 at the Recycling Center! The format this year will be the same as last year. As a part of the Montevallo Tree City Experience we will have tables set up outside, under tents if necessary, where you can pick up bare root tree seedlings. Trees available 9am-1pm or until supplies run out. Trees are free. Bare Root Seedlings Include: River Birch, Pecan, Fringetree, Silky Dogwood, Ashe Magnolia, White Oak, Fragrant Sumac, and Bald Cypress.

The Mayor of the City of Titusville read the 2023 Arbor Day Proclamation and members of the community were invited to join the celebration. After the event, the Titusville Tree Farm donated a Florida Elm Tree to be planted at Sand Point Park. Since 2001, The City of Titusville has been honored to be a Tree City USA through the Arbor Day Foundation. This designation is celebrated on Florida Arbor Day, which falls on the third Friday of January every year.

Ceremonial tree planting at 3rd Ward park to honor recently retired City Arborist Kreg Jenkins began at 10am. Tree was planted and a monument was placed in his honor. At noon an educational event and tree giveaway was conducted at the Griffin-Spalding library. 150 bareroot trees were distributed. Because of recent tornadoes a local tree farm donated approximately 600 3-gallon potted trees for distribution. These trees were handed out at the event as well.

GreenFest 2023

GreenFest was a festival to educate the public about sustainable solutions available in the community and to share green resources and eco-friendly ideas in an outdoor festival atmosphere. Festivalgoers enjoyed sustainability workshops, children’s activities, and more. During GreenFest, the City of Statesboro Tree Board hosted a tree planting at 11 a.m. on Willie McTell Trail to highlight the importance of trees in communities and pay tribute to Arbor Day, which was officially celebrated in the state of Georgia on February 17. The Tree Board also gave out a total of 200 seedlings.

The Rockland Tree Board invites you to help us plant trees in MacDougal Park on May 15 and 20, 2023. The City of Rockland awarded a covid-relief grant to the Rockland Fruit Trees Project and we are kicking it off by planting four fruit trees during Maine’s Arbor Day Week. With the help of Ocean Side students, we will plant two trees on Monday, May 15th at 9:30 am. Then on Saturday, May 20 at 1:00 pm, volunteers from the community will help plant 2 more.

Each planting group will have at least one Citizen Forester who has taken the course and can guide volunteers to ensure each tree is planted properly.

Together we will work on removing invasive species, tree planting, and trash pick-up. Approximately 60-90 trees will be planted with the support of roughly 30 volunteers. This in-fill planting project will restore gaps in the canopy, where canopy loss has occurred within the Lansdowne Glen deer exclosure.

Throughout the Arbor Day Celebration – rain or shine – Spokane Urban Forestry will present family activities, tree care and environmental education. Spokane County Master Composters will share all there is to know about bringing life to your soil. Visitors will enjoy guided tours of the trees and history of the Arboretum, learn how to attract birds and bugs to help a garden and yard thrive.

This is the 29th year of the USA Tree City USA and 10th year as a Growth Award recipient for the City of Shawano. Nature Friend Award recipients will be recognized with planting of trees in their honor and signs to be placed in their yards. The Shawano Municipal Utilities will be recognized for their Tree Line USA support. More than 60 4th grade students will assist with the planting of two B&B white pine. The City of Shawano Mayor, City Administrator, Department of Public Works Administrator and Tree Advisory Committee Chair and members will participate in the event.

Our Certified Arborists will be offering a walk down the Osaugie Trail to give demonstrations on properly pruning trees. A proclamation will be read declaring April 28th Arbor Day. The City of Oshkosh will be receiving its 42 Tree City award. The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh will be receiving the Tree Campus Award. Both American Transmission Company and Wisconsin Pubic Service will be receiving Tree Line awards. The Oshkosh Garden Club is celebrating 50 years of helping to beautify Oshkosh by planting an American Hornbeam in the their home park. Wisconsin Public Service will also be planting an Eastern Redbud and talking about planting the right tree in the right place.

The City of Rawlins in cooperation with University of Wyoming Extension and many other local partners will be hosting residents for an education event including talks on tree care, selection, planting and maple syrup production in Wyoming. We will also have talks about water wise landscaping and landscape design. During this even we will also be building a geodesic dome greenhouse at our urban orchard with support from University of Wyoming Extension. Tree sales and geodesic dome build will take place June 2nd and 3rd, with educational tracks taking place June 3rd.
