Arbor Day Events

We would like to plant our tree in our newly renovated Outdoor Classroom. We will invite a special guest (mayor, superintendant, ect.). Our 2nd grade students will attend. They will sing a song and we may have a student read a poem.

UVU Tree Campus Advisory Committee and UVU Grounds is hosting a tree planting event.

Held annually on the first Saturday in October the City of Avon, OH and the Tree Commission host its Arbor Day Celebration. Last year's event included performances by the Avon High School Band, speeches from the Mayor, a petting zoo, live music, food and drink. In addition, we had an educational scavenger hunt, a tree planting and trimming demonstration along with several organizations offering valuable information relating to tree planting and care. This year's event will offer much of the same and more!

We will be planting a tree in our city park (type TBD) as well as tree giveaways from Liberty Utilities, the local library participates as well as educational materials and other swag items given away including some items for kids.

In cooperation with The College of Western Idaho (CWI) and the City of Nampa, we are planning a large tree planting event to celebrate Arbor Day for the City of Nampa (Tree City USA) and CWI (Tree Campus Higher Education). CWI has their main campus in Nampa, Idaho and are expanding their Ag Science and Horticulture program on this campus. The construction has been underway for over a year and expected to be completed later this year. Within this expansion, a designated space has been identified to build a 2-acre Arboretum. CWI decided to assign a project for the Horticulture Designs students to create a landscape design for this space and present to a panel of industry professionals. After thorough discussion and consideration, a design was selected and will be used as a guide. Together, we have enlisted help from various volunteers to be a part of this great event. We expect CWI leadership, students and faculty, a local 5th grade class, Industry professionals, business partners and leaders and members from the community and public to join us. Using the City of Nampa's resources and industry support, we plan to have an Arbor Day Celebration which will include an Arbor Day Proclamation reading by the Mayor, some words from CWI leadership, a tree planting demonstration and teaching for all the volunteers, a visit from the Lorax, cupcakes and seedlings for the kids and plenty of photo opportunities.

After meeting at Prairie Park for music, a tree planting, and the reading of the Arbor Day Proclamation, The Tree Amigos and volunteers will plant trees in the nearby neighborhood on Sharon St. SW.
