Trees for Tribs Potting Up

The Hudson River Estuary Trees for Tribs program is hosting their annual Potting Up event this year on April 25th (9:00AM-4:00PM) and on April 28th (Noon-7:00PM) at the DEC Region 3 office in New Paltz and we need your help to transfer our bareroot seedlings to pots to help us prepare for the planting season!

These plants will be used to help restore and repair streams in the Hudson Valley and this year we are potting up close to double the number of plants we normally do so we need all the help we can get!

Sign up for one day or both and bring a friend!

We do ask that you RSVP so we can have an estimate of the number of amazing volunteers to expect!

To register you can sign up by filling out this short survey: Register Here!

Or you can RSVP by emailing [email protected] with which day you’d like to volunteer and the number of hours you think you can commit!

We look forward to everyone coming out and appreciate all the help and support!

University of Minnesota Twin Cities Arbor Day Celebration

The University of Minnesota Twin Cities is celebrating Arbor Day on April 23, 2025 from noon to 3pm! University members have the opportunity to watch a tree planting job site in action as members of the Forestry Club, Tree Ascension Group, and the Science and Engineering Student Board learn about best tree planting practices from UMN Landcare and plant trees in one of the largest green spaces on the Saint Paul campus.

At time of planting, students from FNRM 4501-5501: Urban Forest Management, Managing Greenspaces for People will lead a class "bioblitz" activity to collect data about nearby trees. Students were trained in Landcare's standards to measure trees, and this data will be used by UMN Landcare to update their tree inventory and inform future management practices.
