Rubel blueberry is a hardy native bush selected and grown by both homeowners and commercial farms. This highbush blueberry produces small, light blue berries known for their tart, full-flavor. Good for muffins and pies. Ripens mid-season and produces a consistent crop each year, up to 15 pounds. Blueberries are known as a rich antioxidant food. Rubel contains a high amount, twice other varieties. Rubel is also an ornamental shrub with white spring flowers, red autumn leaves, and red twigs in winter. Grows upright to 5'-7' tall, 4' wide. Needs strongly acidic soil. Soil acidifier can be purchased from any garden center. 1-year-old #1 bareroot bushes, 6" to 12".(zones 3-7).
Note: Blueberry Plants are self pollinating but cross-pollination produces a better crop creating larger berries and larger yields. It is best to plant more than one variety that blooms at the same time. Requires acidic soil (4.0-5.2). Purchase soil acidifier from any garden center.
