Part One

About 10 years ago the Arbor Day Foundation started our coffee program as part of our Rain Forest Rescue program, with the goal being to help preserve trees in the critical regions where coffee is grown. After 10 years the need for preserving trees in these critical areas is as important as ever but now through expanded shade grown certified coffee there is an opportunity to expand the impact.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit a Smithsonian certified farm in Chanchamayo, Peru. This gave me the opportunity to see firsthand what a difference shade-grown coffee makes in preserving the rainforest. This is the first installment of the four part series that reports on my trip and how you can make a difference by drinking Arbor Day Coffee.
