The Canopy Tree House
 |
| The Canopy Tree House, set within the
tree cover of Arbor Day Farm, offers guests a broad perspective
of the life of a forest. |
A
highlight of the Tree House Trail is the Canopy Tree House, which
provides an incredible birds-eye view of life in the forest. Nestled
within spreading bur oak, red oak, and linden in the Table Creek
Forest, the Canopy Tree House truly takes you out amongst the trees.
The Canopy Tree House has some remarkable features:
- The Canopy Tower rises 50 feet above the forest floor and puts
you in the uppermost treetops. It’s a beautiful spot and
a perfect photo opportunity.
- The Observation Platform offers a serene and scenic view of
all layers of the forest. Observe the woods from canopy to forest
floor. Relax on a bench and just soak in the sights, sounds, and
fragrances of the forest.
- The Nature Club Cabin has a Tree House feel all its own. Enter
the cabin and you’ll feel as if you are a part of history,
joining others who have explored this special place in the past.
Some Nature Club members have left a number of entertaining mystery
“nature challenges” for you to solve...from camouflage
insects to owl pellets...from mystery trees to a bee observation
hive...from bark casts to beautiful butterflies...the cabin showcases
the amazing diversity of nature. It is a center of fun, learning,
and inspiration.
The base of the Canopy Tree House is set in a forested ravine.
A ramp adjacent to the Tree House Trail leads you directly out into
the Tree House. The Nature Club Cabin and Observation Platform,
35-feet up in the trees, are handicapped accessible.
“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder...
he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it,
rediscovering with him the joy, excitement and mystery of the world
we live in.” ~ Rachel Carson.
