The film FernGully 2 and its makers and distributors, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, of Beverly Hills, California, winners of one of three 1999 Promise to the Earth Awards. The award is given in recognition of sustained commitment and national leadership on the part of a corporation that joins with the Arbor Day Foundation on special projects. The film's producers and distributors are being recognized for their commitment to preserving irreplaceable rain forest land through the Foundation's Rain Forest Rescue program.

Triangle Pacific Flooring Group, Addison, Texas, also the winner of a 1999 Promise to the Earth Award. The Triangle Pacific Flooring Group, parent corporation of Bruce Hardwood Floors, is being recognized for helping The Arbor Day Foundation plant young hardwood trees in our nation's forests.

Health Communications, Inc., Deerfield Beach, Florida, publishers of the popular Chicken Soup for the Soul series, winner of the third 1999 Promise to the Earth Award. Health Communications, Inc. is recognized for working with the Arbor Day Foundation to replant Florida's forests after the devastating fires of the summer of 1998.


Leaders in tree planting and environmental stewardship from around the country and world were honored by The Arbor Day Foundation at its 27th annual Arbor Day Awards celebration held in Nebraska City, Nebraska, on Saturday, May 1, 1999. Award winners are recognized for their leadership in the cause of tree planting, conservation, and environmental stewardship. The awards ceremony was part of the annual Arbor Day weekend celebration held in Nebraska City from April 30 - May 2.
