2007 National Arbor Day Awards

Frederick Law Olmsted Award

Ray Tretheway, Sacramento, California

Ray Tretheway of Sacramento, Calif., will receive the Frederick Law Olmsted Award for exemplary tree planting and conservation work at the state or regional level. Tretheway, a city councilman for Sacramento, serves as the executive director of the Sacramento Tree Foundation, which is dedicated to educating people about the importance of trees and mobilizing citizens to plant and care for trees. He has also worked with the Alliance for Community Trees and California ReLeaf.

Award winners are recognized for their leadership in the cause of tree planting, conservation,and environmental stewardship.

Leaders in tree planting, conservation, and environmental stewardship from around the country and world are honored each year at our annual Arbor Day Awards celebration held in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The awards ceremony is part of the annual Arbor Day weekend celebration held at Lied Lodge & Conference Center.
