TD Bank and Arbor Day Foundation Announce Winners of TD Green Streets Grants

03/07/14
Nebraska City, Neb. March 7, 2013 - Today, TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank®, and the Arbor Day Foundation congratulate the 10 communities selected to receive a 2014 TD Green Streets grant. Now in its second year, TD Green Streets supports innovation in urban and community forestry. These grants – each valued at $20,000 – will fund urban greening projects in underserved communities and will assist with the purchase of trees, tree planting, maintenance costs and educational activities.

Along with the bank's flagship volunteer program, TD Tree Days, TD Green Streets is an integral component of TD Forests, a North American initiative that works within communities to increase the number of urban trees and helps protect critical forest habitats equal to the amount of paper used by the bank each year. Combined, these programs underscore the TD's commitment to forest protection and stewardship, and are a direct investment in the health of urban and community tree canopy.

"TD is excited to award TD Green Streets grants to these exemplary municipalities for their commitment to expanding local urban forestry projects," said Diana Glassman, Head of Environmental Affairs for TD Bank. "The ongoing partnership with Arbor Day Foundation aligns with our environmental commitment to help strengthen and sustain the communities where we live and work. Together, we can make a long-term, sustainable difference."

"We're excited to join TD Bank in supporting these 10 communities, which have demonstrated their commitment to effective tree care for the benefit of all," said John Rosenow, Founder and Chief Executive of the Arbor Day Foundation. "TD Green Streets will help these worthy Tree City USA program participants to remain leading environmental stewards of urban and community forestry."
