Science Care Launches Partnership with Arbor Day Foundation to Commemorate Donors Through Planting 10,000 Trees

01/12/12
Phoenix, Ariz. (January 12, 2012) – Science Care, a whole body donation program for medical research and education, launched a partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation to plant 10,000 trees in 2012.

The donation follows Science Car's December 2011 launch of its Science Care Memory in Nature™ program. Under the program, Science Care will plant a new tree for each of its whole body donors. Families of participating donors will receive a one-year anniversary certificate to commemorate the tree planting.

Science Care will honor its 2011 donors by launching tree planting in the Orlando, Florida-area Seminole State Forest, which was severely damaged in 2007 wildfires. The Arbor Day Foundation is working with the Florida Division of Forestry and partners like Science Care on planting more than 600,000 trees in the region.

"Thanks to Science Care's continued support, we will be able to plant much-needed trees in Florida's Seminole State Forest," said Jaci Klein, Commemorative Program Manager for the Arbor Day Foundation. "These trees will help preserve public land in central Florida, keep rain water clean and provide critical food sources and habitat for wildlife."

"These trees will stand as a living monument to donors and their families," said James Rogers, President and CEO of Science Care. "Just as we need new donors to contribute to continued medical research and training, our nation's forests need new trees to remain healthy and strong for the next generation."
