Young Children's Authentic Play in a Nature Explore Classroom Supports Foundational Learning
A Single Case Study by Dana L. Miller, PhD, Kathy Tichota, MEd, and Joyce White, BS
This research documents children's foundational skill development in key learning domains that occurred for preschool and kindergarten age children when they were engaged in authentic play in a Nature Explore Classroom. It adds to the growing body of evidence that substantiates that for young children, play is learning and intentionally designed outdoor spaces provide powerful contexts for growth and development.
