The Nature Explore Classroom at
DKH Academy

DKH Academy is celebrating their 3rd year as a certified Nature Explore Classroom.
DHK Academy is in close proximity to two major universities, TWU and UNT. One of their practicum student's semester projects was the creation of a cedar maze. With five families and several staff members, this wonderful addition was completed in one weekend. The children are free to design and change the format of the fabric to create new patterns in the maze as often as they like. This student also organized storage for materials to be rotated within the Nature Explore Classroom.
Other new additions include a set of drums for the music and sound area and a cedar house in the dramatic play area. New flowering azaleas and camellias add beauty to the classroom while the children continue to plant flowers and vegetables in the garden area.
Families organize fall and spring maintenance days that help to clean gardens and flower beds, rake leaves, plant and paint.
