Notable Quotes

“The tree which moves some to tears of joy is in the eyes of others only a green thing that stands in the way. Some see Nature all ridicule and deformity, and some scarce see Nature at all. But to the eyes of the man of imagination, Nature is Imagination itself.”

- William Blake, 1799, The Letters

KCMA Members Plant 50th Anniversary Forest

The Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association (KCMA) and its members are planting a hardwood forest in 2005 to commemorate the organization’s 50th anniversary! Working in partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation, they are well on their way to a goal of raising $50,000 to plant 50,000 trees in a National Forest!

Headquartered in Reston, Virginia, KCMA is a voluntary non-profit industry trade association with over 360 members located in the U.S. and Canada who manufacture kitchen cabinets and bath vanities, fabricate countertops, or supply goods and services to the industry. KCMA has a keen interest in planting hardwood trees – a cause that directly relates to the cabinet-making industry. Trees planted by KCMA and its members will restore areas where trees have been lost due to fire, insects, disease or other natural causes.

They will provide habitat for birds and other wildlife, hold soil in place to prevent erosion, purify the air, and restore beauty to the landscape for all to enjoy.

Planting trees is a terrific way to commemorate a company anniversary or other special occasion! Contact us to create a program especially for you and your employees!

Hungry Grizzlies & Whitebark Pine Trees

40% of the fat needed by grizzly bear for hibernation comes from pine nuts found in the cones of whitebark pine trees. Unfor-tunately, whitebark pine tree populations have declined in recent years due to disease and wildfires, creating a shortage of pine nuts. And when pine nuts are hard to find, grizzly bear search for food in areas where they encounter humans…chance meetings that are not good for bear or human!

To help provide plentiful food sources for grizzly bear and help maintain their populations, The Arbor Day Foundation is planting thousands of whitebark pine trees in the Yellowstone and Glacier National Park regions.

Your company can plant whitebark pine trees by creating a special marketing promotion or by raising funds with a fun product tie-in, such as a stuffed bear. Contact us today to find out how!
