Nature Explore Sourcebook
“If a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder… he needs at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in.” —Rachel Carson

Dancing Scarves

Simple Dancing Scarves flowing in the breeze inspire creativity and relieve stress.

With this 2007 Sourcebook, we presesnt an important part of Nature Explore, a collaborative project of the Arbor Day Foundation and Dimensions Educational Research Foundation. At the core of the comprehensive Nature Explore program is outdoor research—field-testing designed spaces, materials, and activities with children ages 2 through 8 to ensure their educational and developmental value. From precision-cut natural tree building blocks to a giant hollow climb-through log, you can quickly see that an outdoor learning environment with natural components is an engaging, creative, alternative to concrete and plastic.
